The door is always open at Filmelab. If you have a film project or idea, or want to discuss career, education or distribution opportunities drop us an email or give us call to arrange a time to come by for a chat. We cannot fund films, or guarantee to show them, but we will assist in helping you get where you want to be, and in the process creating a thriving film community for Luton and Bedfordshire.

Inspired by Paris Je T'aime, Filmelab & The Wade Brothers have created the pilot for a unique open source project, using the unique energy of the oft derided and much misunderstood urban locale that is Luton. Autumn 2009 saw 5 films produced by filmmakers invited and recruited to tell their stories.

Made up of a wonderfully diverse group of aspiring filmmakers of different ages and backgrounds. We have created a template for future filmmakers to add to an always evolving work. There will be opportunities for 16-19 filmmakers and those over the age of 19 within this concept, get in touch for details.

It is hoped 2010 will see new productions from Filmelab, and independent filmmakers.

Heavy Load are Lewes’ answer to the Ramones, a punk outfit subject to the inflammatory mix of ego, fantasy, and desire that fuels any emerging band. They’re also, uniquely, made up of musicians with and without learning disabilities.

Heavy Load started the ‘Stay Up Late’ campaign after years of getting fed up with playing to half-empty halls because people with learning disabilities often have to leave early because their staff finish their shift.

This special screening of the awarding-winning documentary will be followed by a question and answer session with some of the band.
