Award winning film education

What's happened?

That's right, everything here has already happened, but we keep it here as our archive and to show you what you've missed out on. Don't feel too bad, it's never too late. Look at the 'What's Going On?' page to see what's next in the calendar. As Martin Riggs would say, "Don't be a don't be, be a do be".

Heavy Load (Special Screening & Q&A)

Heavy Load (Special Screening & Q&A)

Heavy Load are Lewes’ answer to the Ramones, a punk outfit subject to the inflammatory mix of ego, fantasy, and desire that fuels any emerging band. They’re also, uniquely, made up of musicians with and without learning disabilities.

Heavy Load started the ‘Stay Up Late’ campaign after years of getting fed up with playing to half-empty halls because people with learning disabilities often have to leave early because their staff finish their shift.

This special screening of the awarding-winning documentary will be followed by a question and answer session with some of the band.

Past Caring Trilogy

Past Caring Trilogy

In autumn 2007 Filmelab worked with young filmmakers from a variety of Luton schools on a time travel trilogy. The filmmakers wrote, cast, produced, shot, edited and scored the films themselves. It was a remarkable achievement and the films have been nominated for the First Light Movies awards 2009 and won the prestigious UNICEF Young Filmmakers Award 2008.
